Sweet Briar Homework Assistance

Sweet Briar College has worked to provide additional assistance to students and families when completing school work remotely utilizing their pre-service teachers through daily google meets that are supervised by professors at Sweet Briar College.  Please note that this is not traditional tutoring of content, but rather a guidance through a problem solving process.  The flyer, which includes the google meet link and QR code is attached.  Also attached, is a sample of the questions SBC students will utilize to help students navigate homework and/or technical issues.

Last Day to Make Changes

ACPS  Students and Families,
This is just a reminder that the last day to make changes to your student's instructional model is on Wednesday, September 30th, 2020 by 6:00 p.m.  A written request to the student's base school principal must be completed and submitted to make any changes such as a student who is currently learning remotely and wishes to return for in-person instruction. All other changes to a student's instructional model will be considered at the end of the first semester on February 12th, 2020. Please contact us with any questions or concerns.

TES Parent Tech Training

Temperance Tiger Families!

We will be having a Parent Training on Wednesday, September 23 from 4:00-6:00.  You will be able to ask any questions you may have regarding your student's use of Canvas and Google Classroom.  We will also have our technology team here to answer any questions you have.  We would love for you to stop by TES any time between 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm so that we can assist you with any questions or concerns that you may have!

Friday Attendance

We had a great first week with our Tigers!  I would like to share one piece of information with you regarding attendance for Friday.  Your child will be coming home with an attendance log that we will utilize in order to take attendance tomorrow, and every Friday.  Simply fill in the activity that your child completed on Friday, sign, and then return with your student on Monday.  This log will be returned to you each Thursday.  Your student will be counted "present" if they return this log filled out!

FAQ's and Important Information for School

Temperance Elementary Virtual School Opening Videos

Supply List

Attached is our 2020-2021 supply list. If your child is fully remote, they will have a separate supply list.

Remote Learning Videos

Many have asked what remote will look like in ACPS. Below you will find four videos that walk a parent through what remote learning will look like for Amherst County Public Schools using Virtual Virginia. Any student who has poor or no internet service will have access to the content. It will be downloaded on a flash drive and/or given to a student in a packet weekly. Pacing for a 100% remote student will be the same as a student receiving face to face (F2F) instruction.

Registration

Please register your child for the 2020-2021 school year so that we can create your child’s schedule and properly plan for this coming year. Registration deadline is 8/7/20. Forms are available online through the Parent Portal.  The link to our parent portal is located on our main web page under the “Find It Here” title on the left side of the page.  The link is called “Parent/Student Portal”.  Once logged in parent/guardians can click on the “Forms” link on the left menu and start completing or updating the information on our forms.
